Pregnancy & Infant Loss Support
A Ministry of First Coast Women’s Services
Offering mentoring and support to those who have lost a baby through miscarriage, stillbirth or early infant death.
Miscarriage, Stillbirth & Early Infant Loss Grief Recovery Assistance
The Hope and Healing Ministry is a group of volunteers trained in grief recovery, who have also experienced a pregnancy or early infant loss. Clients are paired up with a Hope and Healing volunteer who has had a similar loss. The volunteer will mentor and walk alongside the client as they travel the journey of grief recovery from the difficult loss of a child.
The Hope and Healing Ministry also offers mentoring to those who are pregnant and have received an adverse diagnosis for their baby. The clients are paired with a mentor who has walked that same path. Whether choosing to carry the baby to term, questioning pregnancy termination, or already having made the difficult decision to terminate, having a mentor to walk alongside them on this difficult journey can make the journey a little easier to bare.
Mentoring is offered to grandparents who have lost a grandchild through pregnancy or early infant loss. Many grandparents struggle with the grief of losing their grandchild in addition to the pain of watching their child deal with the loss. It can often be difficult knowing how to help while dealing with their own grief. Clients are paired with grandparents who have experienced a similar loss.
Those experiencing this type of loss are often expected to move on with their life too quickly and are not given the opportunity to effectively process their grief. This expectation can make the pain of the loss that much more unbearable. Unprocessed grief will often resurface later in life making even minor future losses more difficult. Having the opportunity to talk to someone who has suffered similar experiences can greatly assist in sorting through all the emotions involved in a pregnancy or early infant loss.
It is the goal of this Ministry to bring hope and healing to those walking this challenging path after loss, so they can find peace and comfort as they begin to rebuild their lives.
If you have experienced a miscarriage, stillbirth, or early infant loss and are interested in having a mentor support you in your grief journey, please leave a voice mail (904) 549-6114 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
“May the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ be blessed. He is the compassionate Father and God of all comfort. He’s the one who comforts us in all our trouble so that we can comfort other people who are in every kind of trouble. We offer the same comfort that we ourselves received from God.” II Corinthians 1: 3 – 4
