Three Differences Between an Abortion Clinic and a Pregnancy Center

Three Differences Between an Abortion Clinic and a Pregnancy Center

When you are in need of pregnancy services, it can be intimidating trying to navigate which organizations to trust. The cost of pregnancy services can often pile up, particularly when you don’t have the best insurance coverage.

Pregnancy centers like First Coast Women’s Services offer pregnancy services like pregnancy tests, ultrasounds, and decision counseling at no cost. Pregnancy centers do not offer abortions like abortion clinics , but pregnancy centers will equip you with the knowledge of abortion risks to make a confident pregnancy decision.

Three primary differences between an abortion clinic and a pregnancy center are as follows:

  • All services at a pregnancy center are free of charge
  • Pregnancy centers do not offer abortions
  • Pregnancy centers do not require insurance to obtain free services

All services provided by First Coast Women’s Center do not require insurance, and all of the services are completely confidential. If you need to verify your pregnancy, receive an ultrasound, or hear about your pregnancy options, make an appointment with us!

What is an Abortion Clinic?

Abortion clinics often offer a variety of services, but the primary service offering is typically abortions. An abortion clinic will offer both types of abortions: medication abortion and surgical abortion. Women within their first ten weeks of pregnancy are eligible to receive a medication abortion. However, if the pregnancy is over ten weeks in age, a surgical abortion is required to terminate the pregnancy.

Abortions are available at all abortion clinics, and they can range in cost between $500 and $2000. Pregnancy centers do not offer abortions, but unlike abortion clinics, all of their services are offered at no-cost with no need for insurance.

What is a Pregnancy Center?

First Coast Women’s Services is a pregnancy center located in various areas throughout the Greater Jacksonville area including Baker, Clay and Duval Counties to offer women no-cost pregnancy services. Pregnancy centers offer a safe, non-judgmental environment for women and men facing a difficult pregnancy decision.

Many times women and men faced with pregnancy decisions have support systems at home that pressure them to make a pregnancy decision they are not comfortable making. Pregnancy centers inform women that every pregnancy decision is their decision. The pressures from people and other institutions do not have power over something as important as pregnancy.

The no-cost pregnancy tests, ultrasounds, and decision counseling offered at First Coast Women’s Services is to help bring clarity and confidence to people in need of hope. Although pregnancy decisions are often difficult to make, no one should walk alone as they make them. At First Coast Women’s Services, we want to be the helping hand that supports women and men before, during, and after a pregnancy decision.
